Two Run Homer Beats Pirates in the 9th - Phenix City, AL

A win over conference rivals Wallace State Dothan was pulled from the grasp of Chattahoochee Valley today as they were beaten in the ninth inning by a two run home run that came on a two out, two strike count. The Pirates had fought back into the game after being down 3-2 most of the way to take a 4-3 lead in the seventh inning on the strength of a two run homer of their own that came off the bat of left fielder Antonio Callaway. Wade Dudley was called on to finish the game, but an error to lead of the top of the ninth put a Gov runner on base. Dudley recorded the next two outs easily before the winning blow was struck.

David Head got the start for the Pirates and went seven strong innings, scattering eight hits and striking out 2. Dudley gets saddled with the hard luck loss in the game while Antonio Callaway led the offense with his two RBI's.

The series will conclude tomorrow at Howard Lake Field as the Pirates look to get back on track after seeing their record drop to 11-5 on the season and 2-2 in the ACCC.
