Pirates Sweep Twinbill vs LaGrange - Phenix City, AL

Having several rain outs over the last two weeks, the Pirates were able to schedule a non conference double header today with LaGrange College, an NCAA DIII school. CV sent third year pitcher Chris Ferguson(ND 4IP, 7H, 4K) to start against LaGrange to make his first start after coming back from Tommy John surgery. "Ferg" was the victim of shaky defense right off the bat as errors led to a first inning in which the Lions scored six runs but only earned one. Ty McTier(W 2IP, 0H, 1K) earned the win in relief, and submariner Nick White(S 1IP, 0H, 0K) collected the save. Wes Adkins led the offense, going 2-2 with a home run and a double and three RBI's in the 8-7 victory.

Game two was less eventfull as Stephen Pittard(W 4IP, 2H, 2K), Matt Hill(1IP, 0H, 2K), and Marc Nellist(1IP, 2H, 3K) combined for a shutout and allowed only four hits the whole way. Ben Lillis, Alex Montes, and Drew Freeman each banged out two htis in the game and had a part in all of the eight runs the pirates scored en route to the victory.

The two wins set CV's season record at 14-6 as they head into a big ACCC series at Central Alabama this weekend.
